Flight Computer
Side - A
- You can use the flight computer to complete flight planning problems.
- The “A” side of the flight computer allows for time, speed, distance, and fuel
calculations. Additionally, you can find density altitude and accomplish unit conversions.
- To use the “A” side of the flight computer:
- Click or touch and hold anywhere a “finger icon” appears. This is anywhere inside
the inner circle, shown shaded below.
- Drag mouse left or right to rotate inner wheel. (or drag your finger left or right on touch devices)

Side - B
- The “B” side of the flight computer allows you to determine wind correction angle
and ground speed when planning a course between two airports.
- To use the “B” side of the flight computer:
- Click and hold over movable card.
- Drag card so that the number “100” is under the center dot.
- Click and hold over the inner, white ring.
- Drag mouse left or right to set wind direction under true index at top of tool.
- Click inside center area to mark wind velocity up from center dot on center line.
- Click the blue dot to remove it.
- Rotate inner, white ring so that magnetic course is under true index at top of tool.
- Slide movable card so that true air speed is under the blue dot.
- Ground speed reads under the center dot.
- Wind correction angle reads in degrees from center line.
