The National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) has honored our President, Dr. Irvin Gleim, with the 2018 National Achievement in Education award.
Each year, NABA’s National and Regional Awards are given to highlight achievements, excellence, and leadership. Dr. Gleim’s Achievement in Education award will be presented along with 14 other National and Regional Awards at the NABA National Convention + Expo in Orlando this month.
“I am honored to receive such a prestigious award from an organization that means so much to me,” Dr. Gleim said. “Back in the 70s and 80s, my professional career flourished with the publication of my CPA Review book, and I tried to give back by working with NABA, the AICPA Minority Initiatives Committee, and directly with faculty and students at HBCUs. In the process, I gained more than I gave making lifelong colleagues who continue to enrich not only my professional career but the accounting profession as a whole. The accounting profession needs to do more to encourage and assist minority involvement and inclusion. Everyone deserves a place at the table and only through diversity can the profession reach its true potential. NABA is an exceptional organization, and this award is more than I deserve.”
The National Association of Black Accountants Inc. is a nonprofit membership association dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap for black professionals in accounting, finance and related business professions.
In 2017, the National Achievement in Education Award was given to Randy V. Bradley, PhD, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee. In 2016, it was given to Dr. Jenice Prather-Kinsey, CPA, Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
